The first appointment is a time for you to share about what issues you want to work on, your overall intentions and or specific goals, and any questions you may have about couseling and our work together.
I will share with you how we might work on issues and goals discussed, focusing on applicable techiniques as well as overall approach. I may also get a sense of how long counseling might take. Generally, I start seeing people once weekly, moving to bi-weekly as needed.
If you are using health insurance it is best to call your insurance company in advance. Here are some of the questions that are good to inquire about for your coverage.
Do you need a referral?
Do you have a deductible and how much is already met?
Do you have a co-pay?
How many outpatient mental health sessions are covered?
If out of network, does your insurance have an out-of-network policy?
What percentage of an out of network fee do they cover.
